Буквы русского алфавита, похожие по виду и звучанию на английские

The good news is that six letters of the Russian alphabet look exactly like English letters and sound the same way. In this lesson's audio you will hear the names of these letters and examples of words where the letters are used.

In the examples below stress is shown with stress marks — except for one-syllable words.

А a [ah], Е e [eh] or [ye]*, К к [k], М м [m], О о [oh], Т т [t]

*The letter E sounds [ye] in the beginning of the word.

Такт, те́ма, ата́ка, коме́та; ма́ма mom, кто who, кот cat

Some Russian words in these examples are shown without translations — and for a good reason: they are internationalisms (they occur in several languages retaining the same or similar meaning). Try to guess their meaning.
